Episode 7: Autonomy, Divinity, and Doulahood with Cesca Wolos-Fonteno
I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS. On this heart-filled, passion-filled, joyful episode my good pal Cesca joins me to chat about how she connects her spirituality to her work as a doula! As she describes in the pod, "Being a doula means you are setting the environment for change to be okay." She graciously walks us through the intricacies of her practice, as well as her deep vocational calling to work with black and brown people under 30 desiring "full-spectrum family planning and pregnancy experiences." We talk about the role of accompaniment, decision making, and observing the sacredness of art and life in yourself and in the people around you. As she describes in the pod, "It's just about letting every moment be brand new."
We make a few references within our conversation. Here's a little list of resources if you want to look into anything we talked about:
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron
Revolutionary Mothering: Love on the Front Lines edited by Alexis Pauline Gumbs, China Martens, and Mai'a Williams
